update
Welcome to the Southwest Chapter of the FSMTA, the Florida State
Massage Therapy Association. The FSMTA is one of the oldest and
largest massage associations in the country with over 4500 members.
Our Chapter is one of 19 chapters covering Florida. We serve
Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry and Lee counties with
approximately 400 members. Please browse through our web site and
get to know us. Our desire is to familiarize more people about
massage and its therapeutic effects on the body, mind and emotions.
Massage therapists are healers first in their hearts - they believe
in the healing power of human touch - and secondly through their
training. There are many different massage techniques being taught
today, sophisticated, complicated, simple, natural, and still more
are evolving. Each therapist brings a slightly different
perspective to the massage profession, as she or he discovers their
own unique abilities to alleviate pain and enhance
wellness.
Message From the President
Welcome to South West Florida!
Whether you are a full time resident, or one of our favorite
snow birds, or a visitor who is checking us out for the first time
before you become one of us, you have hit the jackpot by landing on
this web site. It is a pathway to staying healthy, active and fit,
mentally, emotionally and physically (mind/body/spirit). By now you
know that you have landed in the midst of legitimate professional
massage therapy in Southwest Florida. If you are a licensed massage
professional from elsewhere and you are here on your own, please
check us out and let us help you get settled.
If you only want a soothing and relaxing massage to take away the
day’s ouches this is it. Southwest Florida has a huge number
of destination and day spas to accommodate every wish for beauty,
relaxation and revitalization. You don’t have time for a full
body treatment? Well, a regular seated massage (15 minutes, fully
clothed at your office or job site on a specially-designed massage
chair) could be your choice. Plus
we have a large number of very well trained massage
therapists who share their skills with the many area chiropractors,
cosmetic surgeons and pain clinics, to name a few. You get the point - we serve the
needs of our clients. And for our members we provide a track for
those professional massage therapists (LMTs) to remain skilled,
current and qualified through continuing education lectures at our
monthly meetings, while having a fun time doing so.
Warm regards,
Ron Stephens, MBA, LMT
