At the December board meeting it was decided to establish an organizing body to begin setting direction for the Transition Team. Area representatives are needed, and policies, rules and procedures. Terry Lowder has offered to represent his home territory of Bonita and Estero but other candidates are needed for the other geographies in the chapter. The Transition Team is an unprecedented effort by volunteers in the Southwest Chapter who have offered to assist at near-death bedsides out of compassion. No money changes hands. A plan has been unfolding professionally. It all started with the passing of 75-year-old member Ray Thaggard one year ago, when several members arrived at his hospice bedside to join his wife Carole in a loving and peaceful passing. Then the idea being born of having a Transition Team composed of LMTs who would assist, with love, at other members' near-death passings. Member Dolores Gozzi, an LMT at Hospice in Ft. Myers, next stepped forward and organized a meeting to explain some practical aspects of doing this. About 10 people attended that meeting. She next arranged for CE provider Ben Dillard to teach a CEU all-day class for practical instruction in the near-death experience. Eleven people have completed that training, and more are interested in taking the class and be on the team. The goal is to help FSMTA members and their close personal friends and family go through the death transition with love. Assistance is not for the public at this time. There has been amazing forward progress in only one year, including requesting and receiving official sanction from FSMTA's state officers. We will keep you posted via this newsletter, while Dolores keeps the Transition Team informed. Dolores' email: healingthrubodywork@embarqmail.com.

An FSMTA State Executive Board meeting was held in Orlando over the weekend of January 8 and 9, 2011. The State Board is composed of the presidents of all 19 chapters (and we are one) located all around Florida, plus the various committee chairs and the State officers (President, !st VP, etc.). Other members of chapter boards may attend if they like, for educational purposes. And most of our new chapter board did just that on January 8 and 9 - they accompanied newly elected President Sherrie Easterly to the meeting. Ron Stephens reported that It was a very good meeting with lots of old and new information discussed. Attending from our chapter were: President Sherrie Easterly, 1st VP Teo Nikolov, 2nd VP John Graham, Secretary Judy Johnson, By-Law Chair Sydney Sheaffer, and Legislative Chair Ron Stephens. Treasurer Robyn Berry did not attend because she attended an earlier State meeting. It is easy to forget the larger picture of FSMTA. It is a vast sprawling network with many levels. At the center of the hub in Orlando is the Executive State President, Ralph Russ, and his officers under him. Then there are 19 spokes from the hub leading out across the state of Florida to the farthest reaches. We are one of 19 chapters located in SW Florida. We meet every month. The 19 chapter heads meet with the State Board every quarter. Our president is responsible for attending, and in her absence the first VP takes her place. In this manner the FSMTA works cohesively up and down the chain of command. In fact FSMTA enjoys the reputation of being the largest state massage therapy association in the country, and the best functioning. Other states look to us as a role model. So we would like to thank our new officers for getting with the program right from the beginning, and enthusiastically attending the first Executive Board Meeting of the year in Orlando. We think this is going to be the best board our chapter has had in a long time.

Zero Balancing
What can Zero Balancing do for you?
The Client - The Student - The Practitioner
by Alvina Quatrano, LMT, and Verilee Herpich
Zero Balancing is a hands-on modality designed to balance the relationship of energy and structure in the body/mind. With the clear, comfortably deep touch called ‘interface’, held tension in the bone and ligament can be released and reorganized to enhance the health of the client. Working at the deep stabilizing level of bone with comfort is truly a new experience for many of us.
The touch of Zero Balancing creates a clear place of contact, so both client and practitioner are present, attentive, and in the moment. So for practitioner as well as client, Zero Balancing can be a meditative experience. The practitioner stays clearly aware at interface and the client enters into a state of expanded consciousness, allowing the body-mind to reorganize with each touch. Sensitized to subtle currents of energy the practitioner simply observes and follows and holds it, holds it, holds it the container for change. The client is held in the highest personal regard. Observed. Held. Changed. Renewed.
As students and practitioners of Zero Balancing, we learn how to touch deeply with ease and deep comfort for our clients. As receivers of Zero Balancing, we learn to let go of that which no longer serves us. We find balance in our body, in our mind, and our life. ZB helps us reorganize at a very deep level, with attention and comfort. Zero Balancing is simply elegant, profound and transformative work. ZB creates clearer stronger fields of energy in the body and is aligning, grounding and stabilizing. It’s great for anyone going through any kind of transition. A person comes away from a session knowing that they’ve been touchedalteredfeeling-aligned, grounded and deeply relaxed. When energy and structure are in balance, stressors can be shed “like water off a duck’s back”. Some comments after a ZB include, “I feel open again, like a flower that closes at night and opens back up in the morning, like that!”, “ I feel just like myself again.”.
**It’s wonderful to have colleagues with whom to share ZB besides adding it to your practice. You feel great after you’ve given one There’s a 2.5 hr Introduction to Zero Balancing Class, good for FL CEU’s, at Journey Arts on Immokalee Road on February 8th at 6 PM. A ZB I Class, good for FL and National CEU’s, is being offered in Naples over February 24-27, 2011 by Elizabeth Allene Martin. Verilee will be teaching a ZB II Class, FL & National CEU's, over May 2-5, 2011 in Tampa. So, if you’d like to explore this wonderful, elegant bodywork called Zero Balancing or if you’d like to receive a session, please contact Alvina Quatrano LMT (MA50896) at 732-266-5276 or The Zero Balancing Health Association at www.zerobalancing.com.
Verilee Herpich is a Zero Balancing Teacher since 1999. She lives in Goshen, CT.
Alvina Quatrano, LMT (50-9777) is a Zero Balancing Mentor since 2000. She lives in Naples, FL and Ocean Grove, NJ. www.holistichealingarts.info.

The cost is $100 a year to be listed as a sponsor on this website (see Sponsor page) and also listed in this newsletter every month. Have your website linked to ours. In addition sponsors are invited to publish one article a year. Contact nancy@massagebynancy.com. If you do not have a website, you may take out a short-term ad, such as 30-day, 60-day or 90-day ad for $30 a month, or $100 a year. Send check to Nancy Wilson, 616 Sanctuary Road, Naples, FL 34120-4837.
Where to send news for website posting
To help our chapter become more user-friendly, we ask all members to be journalists and report what you know. Write to us. Send news to us. If you have photos to post in the photo gallery, send them in .jpg format to Nancy. If you know a sports event coming up, send date and details. Other members want to know what's happening. The exception is: We do not list classes or workshops since we do not want to undercut our sponsors who pay for their promotion. But other news is valuable. If in doubt, just ask.
