2010 Chapter meetings will be hel d at the
Bass Pro Shops at Gulf Coast Town Center, Ft. Myers, just off I-75
at Exit 128, Alico Road. See directions below. The meetings will
continue to be held on the third Monday of each month. D
oors open at 5:30 pm, but there are no snacks, only water. Eat
before arriving. Diabetics, you know what to do to take care of
yourself. The business part runs from 6 to 7 pm, and the
speaker from 7 to 9 pm. Bring your membership card to show when
you sign in.
Directions: I-75 to Exit 128
(Alico Road). Go east on Alico a half mile, then right into Gulf
Coast Town Center, and right again. From the large parking lot look
for a building with a large sign "Outdoor World", and smaller
sign "Bass Pro Shops" above
it.
Walk through the
store (it's huge) all the way to the back where the elevators are
located. Go to the second floor and turn right off the elevator.
Walk through the forest of camouflage clothing to the far right
wall. Ask any clerk for the conference room. There are many
restaurants in the Gulf Coast Town Center including the Islamorada
Fish Company Restaurant accessible from inside the Bass Pro Shop,
with a charming atmosphere with walls of fish tanks. Once again,

e sure to bring your membership card with you to the meetings,
because there is a membership drive on and expired members are
being notified to attend and renew.

Cindy Black
returns to present on the Immune System at April's meeting. Two
CEUs. In addition to healing from disease, our immune systems are
constantly working to prevent disease. Cindy explains how massage
therapy might influence the vitality of our immune systems.
Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) is a relatively new paradigm for
linking the state of the nervous system to the state of the immune
system. From the perspective of PNI, any modalities that affect the
nervous system such as massage, will have an impact on the immune
system. She will explain the connection between the nervous system,
specifically the Limbic System, Hypothalamus,
Sympathetic-Parasympathetic N.S. and the cells of the immune
system. Once we understand this dynamic, we will explore how
massage can influence the state of thes nervous tissues to support

Fibromyalgia (Note: 2nd Monday!)
Terry Lowder presents on Fibribromyalgia for two CEUs. Terry
presents Fibromyalgia pathology and therapy basics for massage
therapists who seek a more holistic and practical view of this
multifaceted and predominately female health condition. The
instructor draws upon his own direct experience of more than ten
years of specialized and specific touch for patients with
Fibo, plus nutritional therapies for sufferers of FMS and its
sister illness, Chronic Fatigue (CFIDS).

July 7 - 11, 2010 FSMTA Annual Convention
The 2010 FSMTA Annual Convention & Trade Show will be held July
7-11, 2010 at the Omni Orlando Resort at ChampionsGate. You
can
earn up to 19 continuing education hours and network with
educators, therapists, and vendors, AND attend a formal banquet
and dance. Held at a 4-star resort, this year y
ou can take the FSMTA Sports Massage Team Training class,
a required part of becoming an FSMTA Sports Massage Team
Member.
Attend the convention to meet and learn from leaders in the massage
therapy field - both in the classroom and in the exhibit hall.
Plus,enjoy social activities like the Thursday Night Welcome Party,
Friday Night FSMTA Chapter Parties, and Saturday Night
Banquet & Dance.
FSMTA has secured great rates for convention attendees ($126/night
- resort fee waived). The resort is located near Orlando Theme
