Spa Party Idea
This was taken off the Sarasota-Manatee Chapter's website. It was
written by their President Nicole Deitrick. It's worth passing
along. Maybe someone in the Southwest Chapter will pick up on it.
"Hello! I hope this message finds you happy and healthy. If not,
take your own advice and get a massage! A little more than a month
ago I decided to have a Spa Party for my therapists. I figured, if
we can do it for our clients, we deserved the same thing! So, on a
Friday night after our last clients left, we locked the door,
opened some wine, and treated each other. We each gave two
treatments and received two treatments, ranging from Ashiatsu to
Microdermabrasion to Thai Massage. It was fabulous! One of the best
parts to it was the buildup to that night. For two weeks prior we
were all saying "I can't wait until our Spa Party!" The moral to
the story is this: treat yourself like a client. Remember what it
is like to set an appointment and let the anticipation build up to
it. Get excited about it. Enjoy it. All too often as therapists
(especially when you are busy) get into a routine of "just another
massage" and forget that your clients really look forward to your
massage, sometimes for a week or more before. They specially
arrange their day and probably get up early to shave their legs (or
not), arrange for someone to pick up the kids or let the dog out,
and battle traffic to get here on time (or close to it). To them,
it is not "just another massage", it's "Their Massage". When you
set appointments for massage for yourself it is easier to keep your
client's experience in the forefront of your mind. If you can't do
it on your own, make sure you come to our "3rd Annual Chapter Swap
Meet" in October! Swap treatments from other members, bring a dish,
and have some fun!
